ACO Multitop Beguplan manhole cover
for lasting road safety and quick installation without special tools
The service life of manhole covers and their surrounding road surfaces depends on several key factors—including material quality, installation method, and site conditions. Improper installation, especially when the cover is not flush with the surface, leads to the so-called “pothole effect”, resulting in noise emissions, structural damage, and costly repairs.
The challenge
Damage to the manhole cover, surrounding pavement, and underlying structure can be caused by:
- Inadequate material quality
- Improper installation
- Extreme loads from high traffic volumes
Weak points in conventional construction
Traditional installation methods often suffer from two major vulnerabilities:
- the heavily loaded mortar joint between the manhole neck and the cover
- Lack of structural decoupling between the manhole head and the cover from the road surface
The solution - ACO Multitop Beguplan manhole cover
Maximum decoupling for long-term durability
To eliminate common weak points in manhole installations, covers with a wider frame and larger contact area offer a more resilient solution. The ACO Multitop Beguplan manhole cover features an enlarged contact surface, which significantly reduces joint pressure and relieves the mortar joint. The result is improved load distribution and extended service life.
But the innovation goes further:
The cover is mounted rigidly on a deep-founded shaft structure, while the surrounding road surface—subject to horizontal vibrations from traffic—no longer rests directly on the shaft. Instead, it moves freely along the vertical outer shell of the frame, preventing structural damage.
The connection joint is permanently elastic and sealed by grouting, ensuring long-term flexibility and watertightness. This design provides maximum decoupling between the road surface and the manhole structure, minimizing wear and reducing maintenance costs.
Product features
- vertical decoupling of the manhole cover from the road
- Relief of the mortar joint by approx. 60% due to the larger contact area of the frame
- quick installation without special tools
- suitable for special coverings such as OPA (porous asphalt), stone mastic, thin coverings
- minimal risk of installation errors
