Fire-Rated Cable Duct Covers for Tunnels – Engineered Safety by ACO Passavant Detego
In tunnel construction, fire protection is the most critical requirement for cable duct covers. In the event of a tunnel fire, the functionality of the underlying cables must be maintained for at least 90 minutes—requiring EI90 fire resistance in accordance with EN 1363-1:2012-10. Additionally, these covers must be watertight and traffic-load rated, with a minimum load class of B125 (EN 124)—higher if regular vehicular access is expected.
Tunnel-Optimized Access Covers
To meet these demanding specifications, we offer a range of cable duct covers made from a composite of stainless steel (grade 1.4571) and concrete. The ideal solution depends on the required clear opening, available installation space, and load class. Multiple operation systems are available, and all cover types have been fire-tested and certified to EI90 by MPA Dresden.
Full-System Provider for All Tunnel Cover Needs
We also supply access covers for tunnel applications without fire protection requirements, including:
- Emergency exit covers
- Longitudinal drainage covers (e.g. cast iron or composite)
- Ulmen drainage systems
- Inspection and cable duct covers for non-fire-rated areas
For projects with special sealing or load requirements, we offer custom-built solutions—from one-off pieces to small series, for both new construction and retrofit projects.
As a full-service provider, we also offer installation and maintenance services to ensure long-term performance and compliance.
